Add a PDF file to your layout

There are two ways to add a PDF file to your layout, depending on whether you want to merely provide a download link or to view the contents of a PDF file on-screen.

Download a PDF file through a link

Sometimes viewers don’t need to see the PDF file contents before they download, you’d rather just provide a download button or link. Use the following procedure.

  1. On the BBWP admin panel, click Media.
  2. Upload the PDF file by dragging it into the Media window. Or click Add new and select the file for upload.
  3. Click the file you added to open the Attachment details sidebar and copy the URL displayed there.
  4. Close the Media Library.
  5. Open your page in the Blackbaud Builder and open the module into which you want to insert the link.
  6. Enter the URL to the PDF in the appropriate field.

Display a PDF for viewing

If you want to display the contents of a PDF in a viewport on your web page, you will need to use the following shortcode:

The id attribute will need to match the ID of the PDF file you are trying to embed. Here is how to locate the ID.

  1. On the BBWP admin panel, click Media.
  2. Locate the PDF file you want to display and click on it.
  3. Note the URL of the file in the address bar and copy the number
  4. Add the shortcode to any module that has a text editor field on any layout of your site, making sure to replace the attribute with the ID you copied in step 3. Example

Your PDF is now embedded and viewable by users directly onto the page.
